River fishing

I'm originally from Scotland, now based in Squamish, BC. I have had a fly rod in my hand since the age of 5, first for trout and then quickly onto Atlantic salmon on various rivers throughout Scotland. This fanaticism then brought me to BC, with its wild lure and endless fishing opportunities.

I spend most of my time searching for Chinook and Steelhead on the fly, all over British Columbia. In doing so, I've come up with a few patterns that have brought me success in persuading a grab! You will only ever see flies on this site that meet this criteria.

My main focus is on intruder style flies with large profiles and major presence. These are tied on both tubes and shanks. I also tie smaller, more traditional flies for Atlantics. As mentioned, all of my flies are thoroughly tested before they are even considered for addition here.

From a Product Design and manufacturing background, I am focused on bringing well made, well considered fishing products to passionate tiers and grab-chasers around the globe.

Thanks so much for the support and most importantly, tight lines! Cheers. Archie.

Skeena Wild Conservation Trust

With more of our natural, unspoiled places under greater strain, it is important that these places have a strong voice to go to bat for them.

One such cause are Skeena Wild (www.skeenawild.org), who advocate for the Skeena watershed in northwest British Columbia. Their goal is to make the Skeena River and nearby coastal communities a global model of sustainability where large human and salmon populations coexist. They work with governments, First Nations, communities and individuals to sustain the long-term health and resilience of the wild salmon ecosystems and local communities.

They provide support in habitat protection, fund research and advocate for sustainable fisheries management.

As a customer of Swung Flies, you are contributing to a worthy cause. 2% of all purchases on this site are donated to the trust on a quarterly basis.
